Penn Aerospace Club

When I joined as a freshman, the Penn Aerospace Club's Plane Team had not competed for the last 10 years, so nobody except one member knew anything about aerodynamics. I decided to volunteer to be Mechanical Lead and taught myself aerodynamics through research and mentoring sessions with upperclassmen and faculty. I led mechanical efforts through optimization, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration to design, manufacture, and construct a 50lb model plane with a 6-ft wing span. After 6 months and countless hours of hard work, we accomplished our goal of competing at the SAE Aero Design East competition.
